  内容简介:

  Topology is a mathematical concept, which has recently been combined with the photonics and acoustics, giving birth to the emerging fields of topological photonics and topological acoustics. In this talk, I will present several topological phases in artificial crystals. The first one is a 3D topological insulating phase of light in an artificial photonic crystal. Such a 3D photonic topological insulator is the first bosonic realization of a 3D topological insulator and may find applications in topological photonic cavities, circuits, and lasers in 3D geometries (Nature 565, 622–626 (2019)). The second one is a topological charge-2 triply degenerated point in an artificial phononic crystal. Such a triple point can be viewed as a spin-1 version of the conventional Weyl point. Another novel band degenerate point, similar to a Dirac point but carrying nonzero topological charge, is connected to the triple point via the doubled Fermi arcs. These findings pave the way to using the unconventional quasiparticles for exploring new emergent physical phenomena ((Nature Physics 15, 645–649 (2019))).

  主讲人简介:

  Yihao Yang: Dr. Yihao Yang received his Ph.D. degree in Electronics Science and Technology from the Department of Information Science and Electronic Engineering at Zhejiang University, China in 2017. He is currently a research fellow at the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT) at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His main research interests include topological photonics/acoustics and metamaterials. He is the coauthor of more than 30 international refereed journal papers, including Nature, Nature Physics, Nature Communications, and Advanced Materials. His works have been highlighted by many scientific media, including Physics World and Physorg.
