六、内容简介：
This presentation provides areview regarding the advancements in sociotechnical system safety. The reviewoutlines a two-phase transition: Phase 1: barrier engineering, where the focusis on “fail-safe” design and reliability assessment of safety-critical systems;Phase 2: resilience engineering, which is a shift toward “safe-to-fail” designsthat prioritize absorbing shocks and optimizing time-dependent recoverytrajectories.
Thepresentation will summarize the operational characteristics of safety-criticalsystems and discusses the performance of metrics and modeling approaches. Moreattention is paid to some recent studies on modeling and assessment ofcascading failures and roles of safety barriers in mitigating these failures.Then, the presentation will conceptualize resilience enhancers and introducehow these entities or non-entitative methods can be evaluated. Finally, somerecent relevant research projects will be presented.
七、主讲人简介：
Yiliu Liu is a professor at the Department of Mechanicaland Industrial Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology(NTNU). His main research interests include system reliability and resilience,safety-critical system and safety barrier analysis, and risk-informeddecision-making etc. The applications of his research are mainly within theenergy and transportation sectors. He has published more than 200 papers oninternational journals and conferences. Currently, Prof. Liu is a member ofNorwegian Academy of Technical Science (NTVA), the co-chair of Sweden-Norwayjoint section of IEEE Reliability Society, the editor-in-chief forInternational Journal of Reliability and Safety, the leader of NTNU NATECH(natural-hazard triggered technical accident) thematic research group, and thedirector of International RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability, andsafety) master program at NTNU.
