一、主 题：Joint Allocation of Reliability and Service Parts under Uncertain Demand Future
二、主讲人：美国德克萨斯州立大学 Tongdan Jin 教授
We propose an integrated product-service model to ensure system operational availability by concurrently allocating reliability, redundancy, and spare parts for a variable fleet. In literature reliability and service logistics models are often developed based on a static installed base. The stationary condition may not hold when the demand rate of spare parts is time-varying. This situation occurs when the manufacturer introduces the new product and the installed base increases due to the market expansion. Under the system availability criteria, our objective is to minimize the fleet costs associated with design, manufacturing, and after-sales support. When component lifetime is exponential, the mean and variance of the lead-time inventory demand are explicitly derived. A bisection search combined with meta-heuristics is used to find the optimal solution. Numerical examples show that spare parts inventory results in a lower fleet cost under short-term performance-based contracts while reliability-redundancy is preferred for long-term service programs.
Dr. Tongdan Jin is an Associate Professor in Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University. He also serves as the Program Coordinator of Industrial Engineering of the School. Prior to academia, he held a reliability engineer position in Teradyne Inc., Boston between 2001 and 2006. In that capacity, he led the initiatives to optimize the service logistics supply chain for Teradyne’s global asset fleet worth of $1 billion. He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from Rutgers University. His research is funded by NSF, the US Department of Agriculture, the US Department of Education, and private foundations with total over $1.2 million as principal investigator. His research findings have been published in reputable journals, including IISE Transactions, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, and Reliability Engineering and Systems Safety. He also received several best paper awards including the Evens McElroy Best Paper award in 2014 Reliability and Maintainability Symposium (a premier reliability engineering conference in the USA). He is the author of the new book “Reliability Engineering and Services” published by Wiley in March 2019. Currently he also serves as the Area Editor of IISE Transactions, and provides ad-hoc referee services for over 40+ journals. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
