The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, was recently named among the second batch of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) by the National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Ten agencies in China were awarded by CNIPA and WIPO as WIPO's Technology and Innovation Support Centers during the 10th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference, which was held from Sept 2 to 3 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. UESTC is the only university among the 10 agencies.

The WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) program provides innovators in developing countries with access to locally based, high quality technology information and related services, helping them to exploit their innovative potential and to create, protect, and manage their intellectual property rights.

To date, a total of 17 agencies in China have been named as TISCs. The CNIPA has set up a target to build 100 TISCs by the year 2021 to provide better intellectual property information services for domestic innovators and intellectual property users.
