　　“名师讲堂”第24期活动特别邀请IEEE Fellow、新加坡科技设计大学副教务长Yeo Kiat Seng主讲，欢迎广大师生参与。具体安排如下：

　　内容简介：

　　The new challenges posed by an increasingly integrated world require a rethinking of how we address our current education system and future research directions. This talk begins with an introduction of Singapore University of Technology and Design, which was established in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

　　As teaching and research are the yin and the yang of successful universities, it is important to understand the teaching-research connections. If you have teaching without research you risk of not creating new knowledge. If you have research without teaching you risk of imparting old knowledge or (not transferring new knowledge). So, what are the new skill-sets and attributes in preparing young people to excel and succeed in the 21st century?

　　Today there are many forces driving change in research. The research landscape is becoming more global every day. This changes how we think about research collaborations. It also changes the nature and direction of our research. What are the challenges of modern research? What are the next big things? How is it going to affect us? This talk will attempt to answer these questions. As a conclusion, the other trends to watch for the next revolution will be presented.

　　主讲人简介：

　　Professor YEO Kiat Sengreceived the B.Eng. (EE) in 1993, and Ph.D. (EE) in 1996 both from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Associate Provost (Graduate Studies and International Relations) at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Member of Board of Advisors of the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association, Professor Yeo is a widely known authority in low-power RF/mm-wave IC design and a recognized expert in CMOS technology. Before his appointment at SUTD, he was Associate Chair (Research), Head of Division of Circuits and Systems and Founding Director of VIRTUS of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at NTU. He has published 6 books, 5 book chapters, over 500 international top-tier refereed journal and conference papers and holds 35 patents. Prof. Yeo hold/held key positions in many international conferences as Advisor, General Chair, Co-General Chair and Technical Chair. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) on National Day 2009 by the President of the Republic of Singapore and was also awarded the distinguished Nanyang Alumni Award in 2009 for his outstanding contributions to the university and society. Professor Yeo is an IEEE Fellow.
